1. Paper Structure

JEE Main offers three types of papers depending on the chosen course, viz.

  • Paper 1 – B.E./B.Tech.
  • Paper 2A – B.Arch. (Architecture)

2. Paper-wise Exam Pattern

  • Paper 1 criteria: B.E./B.Tech(bachelor of technology)
  • Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
  • Total Questions: 90 (30 in each subject, attempt 75)

  • Type of Questions:

    • MCQ(multiple choice question)(Single Correct Option)

    • Numerical Value Questions

  • Marks: 300

  • Marking Scheme:

    • +4 for every correct answer

    • -1 for each incorrect answer (both MCQ and numerical are subjected to negative marking)

  • Duration: 3 hours

Paper 2A: B.Arch

  • Subjects: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, Drawing Test

  • Total Questions: 82

  • Marks: 400

  • Duration: 3 hours

Paper 2B: B.Planning

  • Subjects: Mathematics, Aptitude Test, Planning-Based Questions

  • Total Questions: 100

  • Marks: 400

3. Mode of Exam

  • Paper 1, 2A (Maths & Aptitude), and 2B are held in Computer-Based Mode.

  1. Choice in Numerical Questions: Out of 10 numerical questions for each subject, students must answer only 5.

  2. Multiple Sessions: Option for attempting January & April sessions and the best score being considered for ranks.
