CET-2026

Posted on : 20 September, 2025 3:08 pm

“CET” means Common Entrance/Eligibility Test. Various states or central organizations use this acronym, but broadly, it denotes an exam for recruitment or admissions. Here is the CET-2026.

Two big CETs that 2026 would whisper:

  1. Common Eligibility Test (conducted by the National Recruitment Agency, NRA) — For recruitment into non-gazetted Central Government posts, Indian Railway services, and Public Sector Banks.

  2. MHT-CET (Maharashtra Health & Technical Common Entrance Test) — for admission to engineering / medical / technical / pharmacy courses in Maharashtra. APPLY NOW

Common Eligibility Test (CET) by NRA

Purpose

  • To consolidate several recruitment tests into one common test.

  • This eases process for candidates seeking admission to Group B and Group C non-technical posts, public sector banks, Indian Railways etc.

Levels

  • The exam will have different levels depending on qualification: Matriculate (10th pass), Higher Secondary (12th pass), Graduate level.

Frequency & Attempts

  • CET will be conducted twice a year.

Who conducts it

  • The National Recruitment Agency (NRA), a central government body, is tasked with this.

Key Benefits

  • Single exam for multiple recruitment drives → reduces redundancy.

  • Saves time, money, effort for candidates who previously had to apply to many different tests.

  • Standardization of the exam process. APPLY NOW

How to Prepare for CET-2026 (General Tips)

If you are targeting the central NRA CET or a state CET such as MHT-CET, preparation strategies are as follows:

  1. Get the syllabus on the tip of your tongue: Find out what Class 11 and 12 topics are going to be asked. Give more importance to topics with more weight.

  2. Create a practical timetable: Allocate time slots for each subject. Also, allocate time for revision and mock tests.

  3. Practice previous years’ papers & mocks: This gives you an idea of exam pattern, difficulty level, time management, and question types.

  4. Work on speed + accuracy: Particularly because there is no negative marking in most CET exams, guessing might help at times—but only if you are able to rule out incorrect options.

  5. First, complete basics, then advanced problems: For subjects like Physics and Chemistry/Biology, Math etc., solid basics are a must.

  6. Stay current with alerts: Application deadlines, exam patterns, exam centers etc. may be altered. Always refer to official sites.

  7. Tame exam anxiety: Maintain your health, sleep and mental well-being. Rest well and steady, unhurried preparation results in better performance. APPLY NOW

Aspect NRA CET State CET (MHT-CET etc.)
Purpose Recruitment to government/public sector jobs Admission to educational programmes (engineering, medical, technical courses)
Level Based on candidate’s education level (10th, 12th, Graduate) Usually for 12th pass / Class 12 / equivalent for higher education
Content General eligibility, reasoning, language, general knowledge etc. for Central jobs Specific subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology etc. aligned with board curriculum
Frequency Twice a year Usually once a year (but depends on the state)
Marking scheme etc. Varies per specific CET  NRA CET details will be clearly published by NRA More predictable, typically with no negative marking in many state CETs like MHT-CET
